Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell grabbed headlines on Thursday ahead of their matchup with Colorado after calling out Buffaloes’ head coach Deion Sanders regarding his dress code when speaking with media.

Coach Prime is yet to respond to Norvell’s comments, but his son Deion Sanders Jr. chimed in on the action, trolling Norvell for his comments through a tweet on Thursday.

“Ralphie gotta run out with shades & a hat on this week,” Sanders Jr. tweeted on Thursday referring to Colorado’s live mascot Ralphie the Buffalo that takes the field for the team’s home games.

Norvell commented on Sanders’ dress code when speaking with media on Wednesday during his weekly coach’s show, taking a shot at the Hall of Famer for his appearance during media engagements.

“We’re excited, we had to do a bunch of ESPN videos and it’s great. I loved it. But our kids came out of those videos really with a chip on their shoulder. They’re tired of all that stuff,” Norvell. “They really are tired of it. And I sat down with ESPN today, and I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder. I told them, ‘I took my hat off, and I took my glasses off.’ And I said, ‘When I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat and my glasses off.’ That’s what my mother taught me.”

“They’re not gonna like us no matter what we say or do, it doesn’t matter. Okay? So let’s go up there and play. That’s just how I feel about it,” Norvell added. “So I don’t mean to take over the show, but I’m just tired of it. I’m tired of all that stuff and I know everybody else is too. So let’s go play.”

Ralphie has been trotting onto Folsom Field since 1966, regarded as one of the best live mascots in all of sports, but the American bison has never done so with sunglasses or a hat before.

It’s to be determined if Ralphie will debut a new look in the wake of Norvell’s comments, but she should be clear of criticism from the Rams’ head coach as long as she doesn’t make good on Sanders Jr.’s suggestion while addressing the media.

Sanders Jr. played college football at SMU, and is currently the CEO of Well Off Media, the company that had been documenting and providing plenty of behind-the-scenes footage and access of Coach Prime’s journey as the Buffaloes’ new head coach.
