Colorado Basketball: Assane Diop commits to Buffaloes, Tad Boyle
On3 Consensus four-star recruit Assane Diop has committed to Colorado.
The 6-foot-10 class of 2023 center out of Denver (Colo.) Accelerated Schools ultimately chose the Buffaloes over Arkansas and Seton Hall. He also received offers from Ohio State, Arizona State, Kansas State, BYU, and Auburn.
Diop is Colorado’s third addition to their recruiting class. He joins five-star wing Cody Williams — the highest-rated recruit in the Tad Boyle era — and three-star guard Courtney Anderson.
Diop ranks as the No. 102 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies.
Diop Scouting Summary
Assane Diop has good size with great length. He is a fluid athlete which leads to intriguing on the defensive side. Diop is a solid athlete, maybe the necessary added strength would provide more pop. Diop has ball skills to push the break and he has touch to knock down threes off the catch. He has a lot of tools, and when it comes together it is very interesting, and productive. However, at this point it does not consistently come together. There is upside here with some attainable ceiling left to cover. – On3’s Jamie Shaw
