Onwuchekwa discusses commitment
Doryan Onwuchekwa spoke to On3 about his decision to choose Colorado.
“I chose Colorado because I felt Coach (Tad) Boyle and the rest of the coaching staff can bring the best out of me.”
In his own words, what type of player is Colorado getting in Doryan Onwuchekwa?
“I’m an inside-out scorer,” he says. “I can bang down low and make a play from the post and you have to respect my jumper if I decide to step out. I’m a elite interior defender. I’m not the highest jumper but I make it hard to score in the paint and I can also switch ball screens.”
He has a message for the fanbase.
“Buff fans, let’s get it done!”
Scouting Report
“Doryan Onwuchekwa has a big frame and broad shoulders with solid length. Has good hands – albeit small – and touch with consistent range. Can stretch the floor out to beyond the arc, off the catch, and he puts it on the deck under control. He can drift and get too perimeter-oriented at times. When he plays close to the basket, he is a good area rebounder and a good outlet passer. He has range on catch-and-shoot threes. Has some upside to slide his feet on defense. He is still figuring out his game, but the consistency continues to become more and more frequent.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
