Colorado, Colorado State get into pregame scuffle amid 'F--k CSU' chants
Tensions always run high in college football rivalry games. Well, the stakes are even higher for this Saturday’s showdown between the Colorado Buffaloes and the Colorado State Rams, where the Buffaloes are heavy favorites in Boulder.
CSU head coach Jay Norvell stirred things up with his pre-game comments earlier in the week and Deion Sanders did not take kindly to those remarks. So, naturally, things were heated when the two teams took the field on Saturday night during pregame warmups. Both teams got into a scuffle near midfield, as the Colorado fans chanted, “F–k CSU!”
Travis Hunter broke out of the scuffle and clapped, much to the delight of the Buffaloes home crowd.

The pregame scuffle began after a CSU player swatted a pass intended for Colorado star corner/wide receiver, Travis Hunter, according to Jake Shapiro.
Colorado features two of the more dynamic players in all of college football in quarterback Shedeur Sanders and receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter. Both were highly touted prospects coming out of high school and they’ve shown the nation why during their first few games in Boulder.
First half between Colorado and Colorado State was chippy
Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter was sent to the turf injured in the first quarter after a late hit against Colorado State in the Rocky Mountain Showdown. On top of the late hit, Hunter — who was playing receiver at the time — drew a pass interference call.

Running a go route down the left sideline, Hunter was targeted by quarterback Shedeur Sanders. He had no chance on the play as the primary defender got into his body and committed the pass interference.
Right as the ball came down in front of Hunter, safety Henry Blackburn came across and delivered a crushing blow. Hunter came back into the game but was later ruled out for the rest of the game and taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The Buffaloes unexpectedly struggled with Colorado State on Saturday night in the first half, with CSU taking a 21-14 lead into half. The Rams’ defensive line continued to give the Colorado offensive line problems for much of the night. In the second quarter, CU ran just seven offensive plays, gaining a total of three yards. Shedeur Sanders was 4-for-4, but just for seven yards. He was also sacked twice and had a 15-yard scramble.
The Buffaloes ending up pulling off a 43-35 comeback victory in double overtime, thanks to some late game heroics from their quarterback, Shedeur Sanders. It’ll certainly go down as one of the best games of the 2023 college football season.
