Travis Hunter injury update: Deion Sanders reveals Colorado star's status vs. Arizona
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders revealed Tuesday that two-way superstar Travis Hunter “should play for certain” this weekend when the Buffaloes take on Arizona. Expected to suit up alongside wide receiver Jimmy Horn after the two missed the second half of Colorado’s Week 7 matchup against Kansas State according to Colorado Buffaloes’ beat writer Brian Howell.
Hunter’s presence was sorely missed on Saturday against the Wildcats, where Colorado took their first Big 12 loss of the season. A narrow 31-28 defeat that the Buffaloes’ best player certainly could have impacted as a rare talent that makes his presence felt on both sides of the ball.
Hunter suffered from what appeared to be a shoulder injury in the second quarter. Making several trips back and forth between the sidelines and the locker room before missing the closing snaps heading into halftime and not returning to the ball game. Recording three catches for 26 yards and one tackle in his 44 snaps before spending the remainder of the game on the sideline in his full equipment and a shoulder brace.

“He was just there to support his team, and he did a good job at it,” Sanders said.
Hunter is one of the favorites to take home this year’s Heisman Trophy following a historical start to the year. Playing in 92% of Colorado’s plays prior to Saturday’s game as one of the best wide receivers and defensive backs in the nation. Leading the Big 12 in receptions with 49 to go along with 587 yards and six touchdowns. Also making his presence felt on defense with 16 tackles, three pass breakups, two interceptions, and a game-winning forced fumble against Baylor.
Horn’s return to the lineup is also significant for the Buffs after leaving Saturday’s game with an undisclosed injury following a hit on a 12-yard reception near the sideline in the second quarter. Colorado’s second-leading receiver this season behind Hunter with 26 catches for 347 yards and a touchdown on the year.
The Buffaloes travel to Arizona this Saturday in a matchup kicking off at 4:00 p.m. ET.
