Colorado Buffaloes EDGE Dayon Hayes plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Dayon Hayes played high school football at Westinghouse (PA), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 267 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
This past season for the Buffaloes, Hayes accumulated 16 total tackles and two sacks. Prior to joining Colorado, he spent four seasons with the Pittsburgh Panthers. All told, the pass rusher has amassed 96 total tackles, 15 sacks, three forced fumbles and five passes defensed in his collegiate career.

In other Colorado-related news pertaining to the transfer portal, Buffaloes offensive lineman Tyler Johnson has also entered, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. He began his career at Texas out of high school. However, he transferred to Houston ahead of the 2023 season before entering the portal a second time.
He landed at Colorado in 2024 and will now look for the fourth school of his collegiate career.
As a member of the Class of 2019, Johnson was a four-star recruit out of Conroe (Texas) Oak Ridge, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 11 overall prospect in the state, the No. 9 offensive tackle in the class and the No. 68 overall prospect in the class.
