Deion Sanders gifts Colorado players shades after viral Jay Norvell comments
Deion Sanders wants his team looking good for Saturday’s showdown with Colorado State. Coach prime gifted the entire team sunglasses ahead of the rivalry game.
On a video posted to his Instagram account, Sanders is shown speaking with his staff and team. He says in the video, “Let’s give them something. … These are the shades. I’m going to give you these.”
The sunglasses are Colorado colors — gold and black.
The Buffaloes equipment staff came in and delivered the shades to all of the players. You can watch the full video here:
“You look good. You look fly,” Sanders said to close out the video. “Look fly, look good, on my mama, on my hood.”
The Colorado-Colorado State game has plenty of national attention. ESPN First Take is in Boulder on Friday ahead of Saturday’s matchup, and ESPN College GameDay will broadcast live from Colorado Saturday morning.
Deion Sanders has called the game “personal” after comments made by Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell.

Norvell appeared on his coach’s show earlier this week and took a shot at Coach Prime.
“We’re excited. We had to do a bunch of ESPN videos and it’s great. I loved it. But our kids came out of those videos really with a chip on their shoulder. They’re tired of all that stuff,” Norvell said. “They really are tired of it. And I sat down with ESPN today, and I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder. I told them, ‘I took my hat off, and I took my glasses off.’ And I said, ‘When I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat and my glasses off.’ That’s what my mother taught me.”
Sanders responded by delivering his entire team shades.
Shedeur Sanders on opposing coaches criticizing Colorado, Deion Sanders: ‘You gotta be a fool to do that’
Deion Sanders’ son Shedeur Sanders is well aware of the comments made by Norvell earlier this week, as is the entire Colorado team.
“I mean, at first, you know, I’m not really on social media during the week. So then I find out (through) word of mouth, and somebody showed me the video, and it’s like, ‘You’ve got to be a fool to do that,” Shedeur Sanders said Friday on ESPN First Take. “You’ve got to be a fool to do that. You’ve got his son playing quarterback, and his other son playing safety. So it’s like, come on now. You’re asking for it. … It’s just extra motivation. That’s what it is.
“During the week, we have a great approach to the game, but then when you make it overly personal, like we respect the team. We respect the opposing players. But now, when you make it that, it’s all respect gone. It is what it is.”
