Colorado combo guard Julian Hammond III has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He played four seasons with the Buffaloes.

Hammond is a Denver native and committed to the Buffaloes out of the 2021 recruiting class. Despite playing in 88 games during the first three years of his career, Hammond made just 15 starts during that span.

That would change for the Colorado guard as a senior, starting all 33 of the games he appeared in for the Buffaloes during the 2024-25 season. Hammond averaged a career-best 12.5 points per game. Notably, he’s improved his 76% free throw percentage to over 90% as a senior.

Colorado finished the 2024-25 season with a 14-21 record, including a 3-17 record against Big 12 Conference competition. That record finished the Buffaloes at the very bottom of the final conference standings. They went 0-10 in true road games, and were 1-8 against AP Top 25 opponents.

As of Wednesday, March 26, over 1,250 Men’s College Basketball players had entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. That number is expected to grow now that the 2024-25 college basketball season has reached its conclusion.

The transfer portal wire provides a real-time feed of player activity, including basic player profile information, transfer portal ranking and original On3 Industry recruiting ranking, as well as NIL valuation (name, image and likeness).

Shakeel Moore withdraws from transfer portal quickly after entering

Elsewhere in the Big 12, Kansas guard Shakeel Moore has withdrawn from the transfer portal on the same day he entered, On3’s Pete Nakos reported. Moore had entered the portal less than an hour earlier after one season in Lawrence.

Moore transferred to Kansas ahead of the 2024-25 season from Mississippi State. He went on to average 3.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. He was plagued by injuries, playing in only 20 games and starting nine of them.

He had considerably larger impact with the Bulldogs, where he was an on-and-off starter for three seasons. During his final year in Starkville, Shakeel Moore averaged 7.9 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. He shot 36.3% from 3-point range, the best mark of his career.

Moore initially began his college career at NC State in 2020-21 and played in 25 games with two starts as a true freshman. He averaged 6.7 points, 1.7 assists and 1.4 steals across 18.6 minutes per game.
