Colorado suffered their first Big 12 loss of the season last Saturday when Kansas State paid a visit to Boulder. Falling in a close 31-28 ballgame where the Buffaloes where missing several key players in the second half like Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn.

The Buffs will look to bounce back this weekend against a more familiar opponent, hitting the road to take on Arizona that also defeated them by three points last season. As head coach Deion Sanders was asked on Tuesday what his message has been to the team this week.

“Accountability,” Sanders said. “Everyone must take accountability in their efforts, their preparation, the habits that we incurred in the game, the things that we didn’t do well at. To really hold yourself accountable to those things, let’s see you put it in to work today. The weight room, film room, training room to get healthy, and ultimately out on the field so we can improve the areas of concern.”

Week after week the Buffaloes have been showing improvement in areas that definitely needed to be addressed. Doing a better job at protecting quarterback Shedeur Sanders, running the football, and holding up on the defensive side of the ball.

But the Wildcats were dominant in all of those departments on Saturday, sacking Sanders six times and holding the Buffaloes to just 21 yards on the ground while running back DJ Giddens gashed Colorado for 182 rushing yards.

“So the guys took it upon themselves, and they came out there with certainly a different attitude. Sometimes you get intoxicated a little bit with winning and start thinking that you really like that,” Sanders explained. “And this Saturday was a wake up call for a multitude of us.”

The awakened Buffaloes will look to fight adversity and get back on the winning side of things on Saturday in Tucson, kicking off at 4:00 p.m. ET against Arizona in a matchup airing on FOX and streaming on Fubo.
