Colorado quarterback Sheuder Sanders sounds like he’d be ready to face off against TCU tomorrow if he was allowed. Instead, the Buffaloes transfer quarterback will be left to keep studying the film and prepping for the Horned Frogs the next four months.

After Colorado took the field for the first time during the Deion Sanders era with the Buffaloes playing a spring game on Saturday, the starting quarterback shared that he’s already locked in on the season-opening opponent. Only 133 more days to go, but the younger Sanders can already imagine the vibes on Sept. 2.

“I can definitely imagine. We’re watching film. I can imagine it every day when we’re watching. I’m excited for the rest of the pieces here on the team to get here. It’s going to be real fast and real explosive,” Sanders said.

Colorado is coming off a 1-11 campaign in 2022 but has gotten an immense talent infusion via the transfer portal since Sanders became the head coach.

TCU is coming off an appearance in the national championship game and a 12-2 season, but is replacing starting quarterback and Heisman finalist Max Duggan.

But even if TCU isn’t quite a playoff-caliber squad again and the Buffaloes fail to live up to some of the hype, the first Colorado game with Sanders at quarterback and with his dad on the sidelines will be an electric experience.

With more than 45,000 people officially showing up to watch Colorado scrimmage, Sanders was enamored with the crowd that went out in the elements to cheer on the Buffaloes on Saturday. And he was equally impressed with the grounds crew getting the field into playable condition after overnight snow.

“Oh my god, this is crazy,” Shedeur Sanders said of his reaction looking around the stadium. “Especially this morning. We came, the whole field was covered in snow. Then, we get out here, the grounds crew did an amazing job — something I’ve never seen before — but then, all the fans are here packed to the top for a spring game. … But it’s exciting, though, having all the fans and hope Buffalo nation and everyone’s able to watch you perform and practice.”

And if the Buffaloes want to pull of what would likely be an upset, Sanders knows they’ll need to keep improving from what they put on tape during the spring game.

“I’d say it’s a solid day. Of course, I had some mental errors, so it wasn’t perfect. We’ve just got to strive to be 100% every day,” Sanders said.
