Colorado running back Isaiah Augustave plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos reported. He played one season for the Buffaloes and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

The news comes after it was reported last week that Augustave is no longer with the program. He had previously transferred from Arkansas and appeared in 11 games with six starts this past season to finish as the Buffaloes’ leading rusher.

Overall, the running back recorded 384 rushing yards and four touchdowns as Colorado used a pass-heavy offense en route to an 8-4 overall record and Alamo Bowl appearance. He also added nine receptions for 53 yards.

Prior to his arrival in Boulder, Augustave played in 11 games and made one start for Arkansas as a true freshman, totaling 202 yards and a touchdown on 35 carries. He also had 101 yards against FIU that year.

Isaiah Augustave played high school football at Naples (Fla.), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 298 overall player and No. 19-ranked running back from the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Once he officially enters the portal, Augustave will become the 21st player that the Buffaloes have lost to transfer this offseason. They have also added 19 more to rank as the No. 37 overall team in On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings.

Colorado is coming off of a 9-4 season and preparing to enter the third year under coach Deion Sanders. Isaiah Augustave isn’t the only key player that the Buffaloes have lost, as star receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders have moved on to the NFL Draft.

The spring transfer portal window is set to open on April 16 and will close April 25. Augustave will have the opportunity to offically enter his name any time between then. More than 2,900 players have entered their names into the portal so far this offseason.

More than 2,800 FBS scholarship players entered their names into the NCAA’s transfer database during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 2,707 transfers. That means roughly 25% of all FBS scholarship players hit free agency in one year.

In data gathered over the first two years with transfer windows, the NCAA found most athletes enter the portal within the first four weeks of the portal opening. The study showed that 73% of men’s and women’s basketball undergraduate athletes entered during the first four weeks. That increased to 82% for men and 86% for women in 2024.
