Colorado safety Trevor Woods out vs Arizona State
Colorado safety Trevor Woods is out for Saturday’s game against Arizona State, Buffaloes beat writer Brian Howell reported. It is another major loss for the Buffaloes secondary, which is already down arguably its best player in cornerback Travis Hunter.
Woods was seen wearing a walking boot pregame, and it’s unclear whether he will miss any additional games.
So far this season, Woods ranks second on the team with 30 tackles and also has two interceptions and a forced fumble. He is one of the few holdovers from last year’s roster, as he also finished second on the team in 2022 with 79 tackles in addition to one interception, three passes defended and two forced fumbles.
Trevor Woods has played a total of 25 games throughout his three-year career at Colorado, so his experience will certainly be missed on Saturday. He ranked as the No. 921 overall player and No. 80 safety in the 2021 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Thankfully, Colorado will get back safety Shilo Sanders back after he missed this past week’s contest against USC. He is likely to get a start alongside Rodrick Ward as the Buffaloes hope to overcome the multiple injuries to their defense.
Colorado already ranks 127th in the FBS in points allowed per game (36.2) and 126th in passing yards allowed per game (296.0), so it will be tested on the road without two of its top players. Kickoff between Colorado and Arizona State is set for 4:30 p.m. MT in Tempe.

Shilo Sanders did not play against USC along with two-way star Travis Hunter. But it appears Colorado is starting to return to health ahead of a big game against Arizona State.
It’ll be a get-right type of game and Deion Sanders was happy to see Shilo back on the field.
“Shilo’s great and he’s back on the practice field,” Deion Sanders said. “He’s back on getting on my nerves. So he’s picking up where we left off.”
In four games this season, Shilo Sanders has 26 total tackles, 21 solo tackles, one forced fumble, one interception and one touchdown, which he scored against Colorado State.
As a member of the Class of 2019, Shilo Sanders was a three-star recruit out of Cedar Hill (Texas) Trinity Christian School, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 69 overall prospect in the state, the No. 57 safety in the class and the No. 584 overall prospect in the class.
