Colorado sells out season tickets for first time since the 1990s
The hype around the Deion Sanders era at Colorado continues to reach new heights as the University announced Monday that season tickets have sold out for the first time since 1996.
It is also the first time the team has sold out season tickets before the month of August ever, according to the athletic department.
“Selling out of season tickets for the first time in almost 30 years shows how strong our fan base is,” Buffaloes athletic director Rick George said in a statement. “Selling out at the earliest point before a season in our history is a testament to our fans thirst to see a championship caliber product on the field. The 100th season of Folsom Field will be a special one with Coach Prime’s first team and a tremendous home schedule on tap. We expect a full house every game and believe we will accomplish that goal shortly after single game tickets go on sale.”

The accomplishment also comes during the 100th anniversary season for Folsom Field, which has a capacity of 50,183 fans.
The record crowd for Folsom Field was the 2005 Rocky Mountain Showdown matchup against Colorado State when 54,972 fans showed up for the rivalry game.

The first time Colorado sold out its season tickets was in 1972. They sold out its season tickets for seven straight years from 1990-1996. The Buffaloes finished every one of those years ranked in the top 10. They finished four of them in the top 10.
The season ticket renewal rate was 98%, which is the highest in Colorado history. Considering the team was 1-11 last season, that high of a rate once again proves the impact Sanders is having in such a short period of time revitalizing the Colorado program.
The Buffaloes will play their first home game of the season September 9 against Nebraska.
“This place is unbelievable,” Sanders said a few months ago in February. “I think you see that. And I believe that. It’s not even work to me. This is pure joy, to get up and come to pure joy every day in smiling faces from the cafeteria, all the way walking on the floors when you get in an elevator with different persons, that’s one of my most enjoyable moments. It’s sitting in the cafeteria and seeing the other sports participants eating and sitting together and that’s one of my most memorable moments because I can see everybody.
