Everything must one day come to an end, as Saturday will mark the final time Deion Sanders coaches his sons, Shedeur and Shilo. It will also be the final time he coaches Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter in a Colorado uniform.

It’s a day that Coach Prime admitted that he hasn’t been looking forward to. Ahead of the Valero Alamo Bowl vs. BYU, he opened up on his emotions heading into an era-ending matchup for his family in Boulder.

“I’ve been trying to shy away from that moment because I knew the last home game, it was the last home game, but wasn’t the last game,” Sanders said. “But this is it. … I got upset with Shedeur yesterday. I told him we have 48 hours, son, then all this is over. It’s going to be something to behold. I don’t know how I’m going to handle it.

“I know Travis is going to trigger me because he always does. He’s going to bring tears up my eyes. I don’t look forward to it but I do because that means they’re going to another level, another chapter of life, and they’re going to soar. I’m thankful that I feel we’ve equipped them with all the tools necessary to be successful.”

Hunter and Shedeur Sanders have exclusively played for Coach Prime during their college careers, with Shedeur specifically having played under his father since his high school days at Trinity Christian (TX). Hunter, the top recruit in his class, infamously flipped from Florida State to play for Deion Sanders at Jackson State. They both followed Coach Prime to Colorado, where the rest has been history.

Shilo, the older brother of Shedeur, has had a different type of career. He’s finishing his sixth year of college football on Saturday. He began his career in 2019 at South Carolina, where he played two seasons. He would transfer to Jackson State to play under his father in 2021, where he has since followed the same path as his younger brother and Hunter to play at Colorado.

All three are expected to hear their names called in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, so it’s no surprise that Saturday’s game will serve as an extra special moment for the Sanders family.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET live on ABC.
