With bowl eligibility off the table, Colorado is just hoping to finish their season with a win in order to avoid their sixth straight loss. However, they may be forced to do so without the services of QB Shedeur Sanders.

Deion Sanders didn’t have a very positive update on his son’s health on Monday after he didn’t return in their last game, a 56-14 loss at Washington State, with an injury. He said that Sanders wasn’t doing too hot and is currently listed as day-to-day ahead of their finale at Utah.

“Shedeur is not feeling well right now,” said Sanders. “It’s a day-by-day situation with Shedeur.”

After the loss in Pullman, though, Sanders also discredited any idea that the program would be shutting down Shedeur just because they could.

“Shedeur is not that kind of player that he wants to shut down,” said Sanders. “He wants to finish with his teammates. I’m pretty sure. I haven’t talked to him about it. But I’m pretty sure he wants to.”

Although Colorado has left the spotlight over the past few weeks, Sanders has remained one of the sport’s larger stories of the season. In his 11 games as a Buffalo, he has thrown for over 3,200 yards and totaled 31 touchdowns. His official yardage on the season of 3,230 yards also broke the school’s single season record – one that Sefo Liufau had held since 2014 – against the Cougars.

Those numbers put him in the conversation for The Heisman Trophy early on and for the NFL Draft, whether this season or next.

Sanders has taken a lot of punishment this fall with 52 sacks against him in ’23. Now, after taking the fourth against Wazzu that left him injured, all Coach Prime and the Buffaloes can do is hope he’ll be healthy enough to give it a go in Salt Lake City on Saturday,

“We’re praying that he gets healthy and he’s able to play because he is who he is,” Sanders said. “When he’s on the field? We have a tremendous chance to win.”

Sanders hilariously confuses Mt. Rushmore for the Hollywood sign

When you’re a man like Deion Sanders, you’ve seen a lot of places and done a lot of things. However, Coach Prime got his landmarks mixed up in quite a comical way on Monday.

During his press conference to start the week, Sanders asked for clarification on what “those four heads in California” were called. He was meaning to reference Mount Rushmore but, as he quickly learned, that monument is actually located in Keystone, South Dakota.

“What’s those little four heads that’s in California? What do they call those? The people faces, engraved?” asked Sanders.

Then, when the media in the room corrected him by telling him it was in South Dakota, he almost couldn’t believe it. Everyone in the room than realized that, in actuality, he had seemingly mixed up the mountain with the well-known Hollywood sign.

“It’s in where?” Sanders asked. “I thought it was in LA all this time?”

“Wow…My geography!” laughed Sanders. “That’s the Hollywood thing? That’s what I thought – I’m sorry! Thank for you educating me. Jesus…South Dakota?”
