The spring game at Colorado is still two months out with it set to take place on April 27th. It sounds like it’ll be a primetime event, though, based on all that Deion Sanders already had to say about their plans for it.

Sanders spoke with Lil Wayne on ‘Young Money Radio’ and addressed the program’s proposal for their spring game at the end of April. He said it will end up being an event that’s several days long, one that he is calling ‘Prime Weekend’, and that will feature several things beyond just a showcase of a game.

“So, for our spring game, we’re doing a whole Prime Weekend,” said Sanders.

“We’re having a fashion show on Thursday, something for the boosters on Friday. Then the game on Saturday” said Sanders. “We’re doing an afterparty – a white, black, and a hispanic DJ. We’re going to cover everybody. Then, after the game, we’re doing something with the alumni.”

If that’s not enough, Sanders also hinted at a special guest that would make an appearance either at halftime or in some way during the course of the game.

“Also, maybe, at the halftime of the game or right at the end of the game on the rooftop? We’re going to have somebody. It’s going down,” Sanders added. “We may cut that into the game so that could be seen with millions of viewers.”

Coach Prime’s first spring game with the Buffaloes was a substantial event in and of itself. A crowd of nearly 47,300 people attended the scrimmage. That total that would have eclipsed all but two home games in the previous season where the team went 1-11. It also drew an audience of 551,000 people on television with ESPN airing the game.

Sanders then went on to transform Colorado into his image and, as such, make them the story of college football over the first month. The hype tailed off after their 3-0 start as they finished with a record of 4-8 but, all in all, there was no denying the hype and excitement with him at the helm.

Now, before year two, it looks like Sanders is hoping to crank it up another level with this year’s game. He’s doing so with more than one interesting proceeding over the few days while also promising to deliver on a big name coming to Boulder for kickoff.

Sanders predicts Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders will be top two picks in 2025 NFL Draft

Ever since taking over at Colorado, Deion Sanders has been the prince of promotion in being able to take just about any opportunity and spin it into positive publicity for his team.

He did just that on the set of First Take in Las Vegas at this year’s Super Bowl. In that appearance, he pointed out how Colorado could have a serious haul in the NFL Draft next season.

“Did I say that we may have the first and second pick of next year’s draft?” Sanders asked just before the show cut to commercial break. “Did I say that? That plays for Colorado? Did I mention that? OK/ I just wanted to mention that.”

Sanders, of course, is referring to his two star players in QB Shedeur Sanders and two-way player Travis Hunter.

Sanders was the star offensively by throwing for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns, and just three interceptions. He also ran for four more scores.

Hunter then helped power the defense from his cornerback spot. He racked up 30 tackles, 2.0 tackles for a loss, three interceptions, and eight passes defended. Hunter was also squally effective as a receiver. He finished second on the team in receiving by catching 57 passes for 721 yards and five touchdowns.
