Deion Sanders believes 'somewhat ignorant' takes emerged about his kids due to his name

Deion Sanders believes that “ignorant” takes emerged regarding his sons during their time at Colorado. Now that Shedeur and Shilo are off to the pros, it could be a little different.
Still, Coach Prime prepared his kids for these types of situations. He claimed the negativity surrounding his sons while they were playing was an indictment of issues already plaguing the sport.
With NIL, it’s much easier to criticize the college athletes because they are essentially being paid to play. It’s a different world and Sanders acknowledged it came with the territory, but those times lines are crossed.
“It’s been wonderful, expected, but somewhat ignorant,” Sanders said. “You guys know, you know, when they put Sanders on their back, they get attacked by some of you in here right now. Some of you have done your jobs at an extreme level and a high level and stated the facts, but when it gets to the opinions, the negativity of opinions, just because their dad was extremely and is extremely successful, that’s not fair, and I think sometimes we step outside the lines.”
Sanders conceded NIL is a factor. But he didn’t pull any punches regarding media throwing out critiques of his sons or other players.

“But that’s what we get when we start compensating collegiate players,” Sanders said. “They in it and they’re attacked. Once upon a time, we had a wall around them, and we couldn’t say nothing. Now it’s the more popular they are, the more money they’re compensated, you guys shoot at them like they’re an adult. You keep forgetting sometimes they’re young men, but I’m thankful that we prepared for this. From childhood on, they’re built for this and they’re ready for this coach.”
For now, Shedeur and Shilo, as well as Travis Hunter, go to the NFL. Deion Sanders is ready for 2025, Year 3, of Colorado football and he signed a massive contract extension.
A new five-year, $54 million contract for Coach Prime has been approved by the board of regents. It’ll make him one of the highest-paid coaches in the country. The contract will pay Sanders $10 million in each of the first two seasons, $11 million in Year Three and Year Four, and finally $12 million in Year Five, per Howell. It runs from 2025 until 2029. He flirted with the Dallas Cowboys opening, but it’s evident Sanders is committed to turning Colorado into a contender, and he’s being paid handsomely to get it done.
