Deion Sanders doesn’t like to be shortchanged. During an appearance on “The Colorado Football Coaches Show,” the Buffaloes head coach addressed Colorado’s upcoming sell-out matchup at UCLA.

“We dern sold the Rose Bowl out. How about every game we play has been sold out?” Sanders said.

“Every single game the Buffs have played has been sold out, the television numbers have been off the charts,” Mark Johnson, Colorado’s play-by-play announcer, responded. “They actually pulled some of the tarps off the upper level of the Rose Bowl to sell more tickets this weekend.”

Johnson’s words shouldn’t be taken lightly. The Rose Bowl holds just shy of 90,000 fans. For reference, Colorado’s home stadium, Folsom Field, can barely hold more than 50,000 attendees. While the figure is a fraction of the Rose Bowl’s capacity, Colorado fans have made their presence known.

The program sold out every home game this year for the first time in program history. Obviously, Colorado fans aren’t limited to the Buffaloes’ backyard, either. Due to the obvious attention Colorado will bring to Saturday’s matchup, Sanders believes CU fans should receive more tickets.

“Hopefully we can get accommodated with certain tickets because they only give us so many,” Sanders said. “You’d think they want to give us a few more tickets because we sold the thing out. That would be kind, wouldn’t it?”

Colorado will enter UCLA with a week of rest by its side. The team enjoyed a bye week after falling to Stanford in double-overtime in Week 7. In the loss, the Cardinal mounted a school-record 29-point comeback to defeat Colorado.

Chip Kelly evaluates Colorado ahead of matchup

Despite the Buffaloes’ implosion against Stanford, UCLA head coach Chip Kelly isn’t overlooking Colorado.

“Outstanding speed,” Kelly said. “Especially on the offensive side of the ball. Edwards at running back and that trio of receivers, Weaver, Horn, and Hunter, they all can really run, they can all really go. I think Shedeur has a great grasp of that offense. Got a really good understanding of it. Does not put the ball in harm’s way. And he’s really really good with the football and they got a good scheme on the offensive side of the ball to get those guys going.

“And then defensively, they got a bunch of guys that run around, get to football, so it’s a good football team that’s battle tested. They played a lot of games, played close games, a couple of overtime (games). Won against Colorado State. They lost a double overtime to Stanford, so you’ve seen them win really close football games and they compete and they play hard.”

Colorado and UCLA will face off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
