Deion Sanders calls out Barack Obama for 'couple good players' comment, picking Arizona
Colorado coach Deion Sanders jokingly clapped back at former President Barack Obama for comments he made pregame before a matchup with Arizona. Obama quipped that the Buffaloes had “a couple of good players” during an event in Tuscon this week, while also bringing up the Wildcats had won the past two meetings.
It was Sanders and Colorado who ultimately got the last laugh, however, as they rolled to a dominant 34-7 win. Speaking in his postgame press conference, the Buffaloes head man took the opportunity to make Obama eat crow over his statement.
“President Obama is everything to me I love him, I admire him and I respect him tremendously. But I heard what he said,” Sanders said. “President, I heard what you said, man. That’s why I really don’t get into politics. I’m into people. Because politicians, they play the political game and he was here and had to play the political game.”
Colorado jumped out to a 28-7 lead by halftime and was in such command that it opted to rest star receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter for the whole second half. The Buffaloes got big games from others in his place, such as LaJohntay Wester, who finished with eight catches for 127 yards.

With the win, Colorado snapped a two-game losing streak to Arizona. Deion Sanders believes it also proved that it is much more than just “a couple of good players,” as Barack Obama suggested.
“We have more than two good players,” Sanders continued. “But you’re here, so you had to support that. What’d he say they won the last two meetings or three meetings? He did his homework. Somebody gave him some great statistics. President, come on, man. You my man. I love you. I appreciate you. But come on, dog.”
Colorado is now 5-2 (3-1 Big 12) on the season, surpassing its win total from last year and inching closer to bowl eligibility. The Buffaloes will look to keep rolling when they take on Cincinnati next week.
