Colorado must go undefeated in their final two games in order to reach bowl eligibility. With such a small margin of error to work with, Deion Sanders says the Buffaloes must be ready and able for when their opportunity comes their way.

Sanders spoke about “the moment” during a press conference this week. When that chance comes their way, regardless of when it does, Coach Prime needs Colorado to be prepared to take advantage of it.

“We just got to be ready for the moment,” said Sanders. “We never know when the moment is and you got to be prepared for the moment. That moment may come in the first quarter? We don’t know. Second quarter, third quarter, fourth quarter, overtime – we’ve got to be prepared.

“We’ve been through every type of moment that you could gather this season, including overtimes. We’ve just got to be ready for the moment.”

Colorado was no stranger to the spotlight over their first three matchups. Since then, though, their opportunities have seemingly been too much for them as they’ve lost six of their last seven.

To be fair, five of those six have come against ranked competition including the last three during their current four-game losing streak. Still, with different chances to win in each of their last six overall, the early excitement around their season has fizzled because of their inability to capitalize on any of them.

Now, the Buffaloes have a hill to climb in order to reach the postseason. However, if nothing else, Sanders knows that Colorado is going to approach their final two in a way that at least gives them a puncher’s chance at making it in.

“I’m going to reiterate this once again – our kids do not quit,” Sanders stated. “One thing that they’re going to do? They’re going to give you a great game. We fight ’til the end.”

Sanders gives impressions of Washington State

Colorado would need to run the table to secure bowl eligibility in their first season under Deion Sanders. That would have to start this Saturday with a win over Washington State on the road.

Like the Buffaloes, the Cougars have a 4-6 record with just one win versus conference competition this season. Cccording to Sanders, though, a record isn’t the only thing that they have in common as he spoke about the great opportunity his team has this weekend on the ‘Colorado Football Coaches Show’.

“Yeah, we have a great opportunity every darn week but we find a way to mess it up,” Sanders said getting a laugh out of the audience. “Washington State? They’re a lot like us. Statistically, aesthetically, things they excel in, things they don’t? They’re really similar to us. We’re just praying – I’m praying as a coach – I want to play one game of mistake-free football. What I mean by that is I want the offense to show up, the defense to show up, and the special teams to show up. Just one game together.”
