Deion Sanders on Colorado's QB spot after Shedeur Sanders: 'I'm looking for Shedeur right now'
The future of Deion Sanders‘ Colorado will look quite different when he sons Shedeur and Shilo move onto the NFL, as well as Travis Hunter.
But it’s not just those three guys. Deion Sanders mentioned others that he took from Jackson State, guys he’s coached since they were young.
Speaking at Big 12 Media Days, it’ll be a new era post-Shedeur and others at Colorado for Sanders.
“I think more thoughtful, understanding definitely what I need and what I got to have,” Sanders said of what’s next. “I’m not crazy. I’m looking for Shedeur right now. I’m looking for Shedeur right now. I think we have Shiloh on campus already in the secondary, just watching every move he makes. So you want to replace that part of it. But not only those two. I’ve had guys … been playing for me since … high school. …
“All these guys that I brought from Jackson with me … Like these guys been with me for a long time man. So it’s not just a departure of my sons, like these other guys are leaving too. That’s going to hurt like these are my babies man, like I raised them out of the womb.”
Last year, despite the struggles of the offensive line, Shedeur Sanders threw for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns, three interceptions and had a 69.3% completion percentage. It’s hard to replicate those numbers.

Deion Sanders mentioned how building relationships with younger players will continue to change in the world of NIL and the transfer portal.

“And now because football has changed so much that it’s portal, you know,” Sanders said. “It’s hard to grab a guy out of of high school and maintain him and keep him or whatnot … He’ll hit you up after his sophomore year, he have a big year, now he wants money.
“Okay, so we got to address that. But it’s not nothing uncommon. We will address those needs and make sure those guys are compensated, the guys that deserve it. But this is a whole new game. It really is.”
Replacing the quarterback is the biggest ask, but replacing a defensive back like Shilo and a two-way player like Hunter won’t be easy either.
But it seems, based on some recruiting wins and plenty of transfer portal activity, Deion Sanders won’t back away from the challenge.
