Colorado guard Shelomi Sanders, daughter of Deion Sanders, entered NCAA Transfer Portal
Shelomi Sanders, the daughter of Deion Sanders, entered the NCAA transfer portal, she announced on Twitter.
Shelomi Sanders was a member of the Colorado women’s basketball team. The Buffaloes made it to this year’s Sweet 16.
Sanders made it official with a statement on Twitter.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank my creator for allowing me to have this platform with amazing experiences,” Sanders wrote. “I want to thank my coaches and the university for accepting me to be a part of the family, it has been a blessing accomplishing as much as we did. I would like to thank my family and my support system for always uplifting and pouring into me on and off the court as a student athlete.”
Sanders has three years of eligibility remaining at whatever destination she finds suitable.
“My time at Colorado has been a treat with amazing experiences along the way,” she wrote. “With intentional consideration and prayer, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with three years of eligibility left. Boulder will forever hold a special place in my heart and I will never forget the memories I have had the opportunity to make since being here. Thank you again Buff Nation!”
Sanders started her college career at Jackson State but made the move to Boulder when Deion took the head coaching gig for the football team. She’s played seven combined games over two seasons.

The NCAA Transfer Portal, which covers every NCAA sport at the Division I, II and III levels, is a private database with names of student-athletes who wish to transfer. It is not accessible to the public.
The process of entering the portal is done through a school’s compliance office. Once a player provides written notification of an intent to transfer, the office enters the player’s name in the database and everything is off and running. The compliance office has 48 hours to comply with the player’s request and that request cannot be refused.
Once a player’s name shows up in the portal, other schools can contact the player. Players can change their minds at any point and withdraw from the portal. However, once a player enters the portal, the current scholarship no longer has to be honored. In other words, if a player enters the portal but decides to stay, the school is not obligated to provide a scholarship anymore.
