As Colorado got ready for its Week 12 matchup against Utah, the speculation continued to grow around Deion Sanders and a possible NFL coaching future. With his son, Shedeur, going to the league, some wondered if Coach Prime could also leave CU – perhaps for the Dallas Cowboys.

Sanders addressed the noise during an interview with Mark Ingram ahead of FOX Big Noon Kickoff. When asked if he’d thought about going to the league, Sanders denied it and joked about how Shedeur would react.

“No, I haven’t,” Sanders said. “[Shedeur] don’t want to see me no more, man. I’m gonna tell you what. He don’t, but he does.”

Rumors have been swirling about Sanders’ future after this season at Colorado. Both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are expected to head to the NFL Draft, leading to questions about whether Deion Sanders would be back for Year 3 in Boulder. He has an 11-10 record through the first 21 games of his tenure.

Sanders has spoken multiple times about his lack of interest in coaching in the NFL. But with chatter growing around the Cowboys – a franchise for which Prime Time shined – amid a rough season. Dallas takes a 3-6 record into Monday Night Football against the Houston Texans, and coach Mike McCarthy is in the final year of his contract.

Although FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz said there hasn’t been any “official conversations” between Sanders and the NFL, Cowboys legend Michael Irvin promised to be “in Jerry Jones’ ear” about Coach Prime. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith also called for the Cowboys to hire Sanders. He argued Dallas should tank for Shedeur, as well.

“This brother, Prime Time Deion Sanders, and the job that he’s doing … I believe that the Dallas Cowboys should tank the rest of the season, get the No. 1 overall pick so you can draft Shedeur Sanders and, by the way, hire Prime Time Deion Sanders as your head coach for the Dallas Cowboys,” Smith said. “I think that should be Jerry Jones’ master plan. That’s right, I said it.

“Hire Prime Time Deion Sanders. You’ve gotta tank the season to make sure you can get his son as your quarterback and you move forward that way. That is what I believe the Dallas Cowboys should do.”
