Deion Sanders discusses his kid rankings, how far Shilo is rising
Deion Sanders isn’t afraid to call it like it is, whether that’s on the field or at home. That includes when it comes to his children as he has no issue putting them in order as favorites.
Sanders spoke about the ranking of his kids during his postgame press conference following Colorado’s 45-38 win in double overtime over Colorado State. He says that Shilo Sanders, a safety for the Buffaloes, is seeing movement on the list but also admitted that it’s a difficult call to make between his five offspring.
“(Shilo) is moving up. He is moving on up like The Jeffersons. But Shedeur is straight-up balling too,” said Sanders. ““Bossy came up and gave me the biggest hug and kiss and appreciation for Daddy that she could ever give me at the end of the game so that was great. And (Deion Sanders) Jr. has been balling on social media. What he does is fascinating.”
“It’s tough. My kid rankings are tough,” Sanders admitted. “It’s a serious run right now. It really is a serious run.”
Shilo’s major game in Colorado’s win over the Rams this weekend caused his shift on the list. He posted four tackles, a forced fumble, and a pick-six that came a crucial spot early.
Shedeur also continued his Heisman campaign, though, by completing 38-47 (80.9%) passes for 348 yards, four touchdowns, and the first interception of his season.
However, to get back to his actual ranking, Coach Prime had another great line when it came to how other parents view their kids. He went on to close by calling out those in the room for not being as honest as him when it comes to choosing between their children.
“I’m the only one that’s honest about ranking my kids,” laughed Sanders. “You guys act like you love all of them the same and you don’t. I don’t know why y’all act like that.”

The whole Sanders family is shining right now based on the first three weeks of Colorado’s season. Even so, he is continuing to make it known that the top spot is still up for grabs when it comes to his kids, regardless of how well Shedeur and Shilo have been playing.
Sanders addresses his relationship, postgame moment with Jay Norvell
During an appearance on College GameDay prior to Colorado’s matchup against Colorado State on Saturday, Deion Sanders told the show’s hosts to keep the cameras rolling during his handshake with CSU’s Jay Norvell after the game.
Following Colorado’s 43-35 win in double overtime, Sanders broke down their postgame interaction.
“I know Shedeur kind of got in between us,” Sanders said. “I can be petty if they’re petty, but I ain’t got time for that. I’m on to bigger things. I’m happy for the brother. I really am. I’m happy that they fought and played a good game, I’m happy that he’s a head coach. I’m happy for any brother that’s doing it and successful, man. I truly am.”
Despite the teams’ animosity on the field, Sanders attempted to squash the conflict during the postgame press conference.
“I don’t know where all this stuff comes from. I have to respond because my mama taught me that,” Sanders said. “You ain’t just gonna attack me and I’m gonna sit back and not say anything. But, I’m happy for that dude, man. I don’t know him. But I’m happy for him.
“I wish the best for him. I really do. My success ain’t got nothing do with his, so why would I not want him to succeed? I don’t know how people get down like that. My blessings don’t got nothing to do with his blessings.”
