Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has coached his son Shedeur Sanders for almost of all the young quarterback’s life. They’ve been around the block more times than most other coach-quarterback combinations around the country.

It is all those previous experiences that have formed the confidence Deion has in Shedeur. He explained during his press conference this week Sanders has seen this all before so its his expectation that Shedeur will continue to find a way.

“He is who he is,” Deion Sanders said. “The things that he does, he’s done before. You’re just seeing it. Like holding up the watch. If you Google us winning the state championships, he sitting up there with a diamond watch on. He’s sitting up there with the chains on. He’s already done the stuff that you’re seeing. I’ve seen these things. That’s probably why I don’t flinch on the sideline because I’ve seen this thing. What was funny to me is that I saw a clip — I don’t know if Sam showed it to me — somebody showed it to me. They showed my reaction to the touchdowns or whatever and they were all just — I’ve seen this stuff and I expect that.”

Shedeur Sanders’ play this year has inspired the same confidence Deion has in him in Colorado fans across the country. Sanders has 2,020 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and only two interceptions on a 72.7% completion percentage on the year.

But Deion Sanders added Shedeur isn’t the only player he is happy that people are finally getting to see perform on the field. He included his sons Shilo Sanders — who is eleventh in the conference in tackles — and Deion Sanders Jr. — who spearheads some of the team’s efforts on social media on his personal YouTube page— as people who are finally getting the recognition he feels they deserve.

“I ain’t gonna jump and holler and scream,” Deion Sanders said. “I know what’s coming. The expectation I have of him as a quarterback is phenomenal. The expectation I have of him as my son is even more. I’m excited and elated. I’m glad you get an opportunity not just to see him but to see, I think Shilo — where is he tackling in the Pac-12 for safeties? He’s one of the leaders and he missed a game. You know what Junior brings to the table with social media. I’m excited about my kids tremendously. But I’m excited about this team.”
