Deion Sanders explains why he slept in his office Friday night ahead of Nebraska game
No coach in the nation is as bought-in as Colorado head coach Deion Sanders. A true program guy, Coach Prime spent Friday night sleeping in his office overlooking Folsom Field in anticipation for Saturday’s game against Nebraska.
“I wanted to wake up and see the stadium. I wanted to wake up and feel it,” Sanders revealed on Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff. “I wanted to see it empty and see the transformation. That’s pretty much what we’re doing.”
The last time Colorado hosted an event at Folsom Field — 47,277 fans showed up for the 2023 spring game kick off the Coach Prime era in Boulder. That number is good for 88 percent of the stadium’s maximum capacity — a spring game record for the program. The previous attendance record for a spring game at Colorado, 17,800, was completely shattered. A 100 percent sell out is expected for this matchup.
Drawing a crowd that large is expected, but also well-deserved. Fans across the country will have their eyes on the Colorado-Nebraksa matchup that headlines the early window of Week 2 college football games.
Shedeur Sanders, threw for a school-record 510 yards and four touchdowns during the afternoon on the road. Travis Hunter shined in his role on both sides of the ball, hauling in 11 receptions for 119 yards while also having an interception playing defensive back as well. Freshman running back Dylan Edwards proved his versatility with 159 all-purpose yards during the season opener as well.

Colorado has since slid itself into the AP Top 25 Poll at No. 22 and are the most talked about team in the country. It might be hard to put that all behind them, but moving forward Colorado has to worry about the next game up, which just so happens to be a rivalry game against a Nebraska team coming off a loss against Minnesota that saw the Gophers win it on walk-off field goal.
This could play into Nebraska’s favor, however, as a win over the hottest team in the country at home is a perfect way to turn around the Huskers’ fortune after last week’s heartbreak. Likewise, a loss could send the Matt Rhule era into an early tailspin through the first two seeks of the 2023 season.
Kickoff between the Buffs and Huskers is set for Noon ET live on FOX. Colorado enters the matchup as a 2.5-point betting favorite, per Vegas Insider.
