It sounds like Deion Sanders’ surgery went well this week. Following an update from his son, Shedeur, Sanders’ girlfriend called the operation “successful.”

Tracey Edmonds posted an update of her own on Instagram after Sanders underwent a follow-up procedure. The surgery kept him from attending Pac-12 Media Day, and defensive coordinator Charles Kelly went in his place.

Based on Edmonds’ update, “Coach Prime” is in good spirits.

“Thank you Lord for another successful surgery!!” Edmonds wrote. “We thank you for giving #CoachPrime @deionsanders the strength to fight these challenges and we have Faith that you will give him the VICTORY! We are so GRATEFUL for all the doctors, nurses, and staff who have blessed him on his road to recovery! And we thank ALL OF YOU for your BEAUTIFUL prayers! They bring tears to my eyes when I read them and they fill us with HOPE and STRENGTH! God bless all of you.”

Edmonds’ post came after Shedeur joined College Football Live on ESPN2 and shared an initial update on his dad. He said Deion was feeling well after the procedure.

“My pops is doing real good,” Shedeur Sanders said on College Football Live. “I just got off the phone with him and he’s just excited that we’re out here, we’re doing Media Day. He wishes he could be here but he can’t right now.”

It’s been seven months since Deion Sanders left Jackson State to take the head coach position at Colorado. Shedeur admitted it hasn’t necessarily been easy, but the team has come together as a unit to get through the transition and prepare for the season.

“It’s been a lot mentally, moving out to Colorado,” Shedeur Sanders said. “Knowing what he’s going through, just himself, and building a team, building a program. Just everything, just having the guys mesh together. It’s been a lot. It’s been a lot on, I would say, myself mentally and a lot of players. But we’re just here, pulling together.”

After Colorado announced Deion Sanders would miss Pac-12 Media Day, he explained what exactly was wrong. He’s still having issues with his leg, and the doctors had to go in and remove another blood clot.

“I apologize that I am not going to be at the Pac-12 Media Day,” Sanders said, via ESPN. “I have to have another surgery tomorrow. A couple surgeries. One in my leg to remove the clots… I’m really dislocated on the bottom.”
