Deion Sanders has reached out to 5-star DL Peter Woods
New Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has reached out to Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson five-star defensive lineman and Clemson commit Peter Woods, Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports reports.
“(Woods) says he’s locked in with Clemson but Freddie Roach and Alabama still talking to him a lot. Deion Sanders and Colorado has reached out to him,” Wiltfong said Tuesday. “But Clemson is the program that he talks to the most.”
Woods has been committed to the Tigers since July, and is the top-ranked prospect in the 2023 Clemson recruiting class.
Sanders has created a lot of recruiting hype since taking over the Buffaloes job.
The On3 Consensus — a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies — has Woods as the No. 24 overall recruit and No. 4 defensive lineman in the 2023 class.

Katy (Texas) Paetow Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman David Hicks, Montgomery (Ala.) Carver five-star defensive lineman James Smith and Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco five-star defensive lineman Matayo Uiagalelei are the only three defensive lineman recruits ranked ahead of Woods.
He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $203k. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
Peter Woods Scouting Summary
Compact defensive lineman creates disruption with first-step quickness and speed in pursuit. Smaller than most of his fellow top defensive line prospects at around 6-foot-2, 280 pounds. Highly productive and disruptive while starring for one of the more talented high school teams in the Southeast. Lines up inside and at end for Thompson High. Has some of the best play speed we’ve seen from a defensive lineman nationally. Runs like a linebacker in pursuit. Makes plays behind the line of scrimmage at a high clip. Elevated his play as a junior. Likely projects as a three-technique long-term. Lacks prototypical length for top prospects at the position.
