Deion Sanders on his relationship with losing: 'We don't like each other'
Deion Sanders isn’t familiar with losing and doesn’t plan on growing comfortable with the feeling anytime soon. During an interview with Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks, the Colorado head coach discussed his relationship with failure.
“We don’t like each other. We don’t get along. And we’ve never been friends,” Sanders said. “We’ve never really kicked it. That dude called winning is my dog. It’s my homie. That’s my partner. We know each other well. We’ve been together for quite some time, so I’m more comfortable with him than I would ever be with [losing] because you never gonna see me with [losing] publicly.”
Sanders’ Buffaloes haven’t seen a loss yet. After defeating Colorado State 43-35 in double overtime last week, Colorado boasts a 3-0 record. For their efforts, Sanders and Co. received the No. 19 spot in the AP Top 25 Poll this week.
Deion Sanders’ success is a family affair
“You never see me on a post on [Instagram] or Twitter or social not smiling,” Sanders said. “I’m gonna always give you that because that’s the way I feel inside and I want to project it outwardly. I’m too blessed to be stressed. I enjoy life. I love the life I live. I live the life I love and people get upset about it. And I’m enjoying it with my babies.”
Sanders’ “babies” have given him plenty to smile about this season. Through three games, Shedeur Sanders has amassed 1,251 passing yards, the second-most in the country. Further, the Colorado QB has a 78.7% completion rate, ranking No. 4 nationally.

Shedeur isn’t the only Sanders kid making an impact on the field. Shedeur’s older brother, Shilo, is holding down the opposite side of the ball. The Buffaloes’ safety has 19 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception. For reference, the lone interception was a pivotal pick-six to even the score against Colorado State.
Sanders’ boys are the only ones benefitting from the fruits of success.
“My daughter was just laying on the couch in my office asleep probably a couple of hours ago,” Sanders said. “She comes right up, gives me a hug, gives me a kiss, sits on my lap and wants to be baby girl with her big self, and then she gets over on the couch and goes to sleep. I love that.”
Sanders won’t have too much time for sleep this week. On Saturday, Colorado will face its toughest test yet, squaring off against No. 10 Oregon at 12:30 p.m. PT. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
