Deion Sanders on recent Travis Hunter attention: 'I don't know where the bull junk comes in at'
It has been quite the month of December for Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter. The former five-star recruit and future first-round pick won the Heisman Trophy this month, as well as the AP Player of the Year, Biletnikoff Award and plenty of other accolades.
However, away from football, his relationship with his fiancé has been questioned and scrutinized time and time again.
Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders was asked about Travis Hunter and what the last couple of weeks have been like for him ahead of the Alamo Bowl.
Sanders didn’t want to talk about the negative attention Hunter has received and instead focused on all the positives in his life.
“I don’t know about the bull junk. I think everything is great,” Deion Sanders said. “He has a Heisman Trophy at the crib. He’s projected to be the first or second pick, no later than the third. I don’t know where the bull junk comes in at. I think it’s all a blessing. Things that you may count as stressing is still a blessing. And I think he’s headed in the right direction.”
Travis Hunter won the Heisman after catching 92 passes for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also recorded a team-high four interceptions, 11 pass breakups, forced a fumble and rushed for a touchdown.
He is set to play in the Alamo Bowl for Colorado against BYU on Saturday, before turning his attention to the 2025 NFL Draft.

“He loves the game of football. I’m always focused on the positives and not the negatives,” Sanders said. “It’s so easy to see the negatives when the positives are right there in front of you. Why would you focus on that when the positive is right there in front of you.”
Deion Sanders added that he is proud of Travis Hunter and excited to see him finish his college career on a high note. Hunter signed with Jackson State out of high school after being ranked as a five-star recruit and the No. 2 overall player in the country in the class of 2022, per the On3 Industry Rankings.
He spent a season playing for Deion Sanders at Jackson State, before playing at Colorado under Sanders the past two years.
“I love this young man. I love what he stands for. I love him like he’s a son,” Sanders said. “He’s exceeded expectations. He’s exceeded everything we’ve asked of him, academically, as well as athletically. So I’m happy for what he’s going to do in this particular game.”
