Deion Sanders on son Shedeur: 'Every pro team knows that he can spin it'
NFL scouts will be eyeing Shedeur Sanders under a microscope during the 2024 college football season.
Ahead of what will likely be Sanders’ final season playing under his father at Colorado, Deion Sanders explained why his son Shedeur is committed to helping the Buffaloes win now. If he does that, the NFL Draft will take care of itself.
“Every pro team knows that he can spin it,” Deion Sanders said during Big 12 Media Days. “We want to win. That’s the priority. We want to win by any means necessary. If that means throw for 400, if that means throw for 150, if that means run for 300, stop the darn run and let’s attack and get the football, get turnovers. So we just want to go out there and do what we’re capable of doing, offensively and defensively.”
In 2023, Sanders put his ability to throw the ball on display after completing 69.3 percent of his passes for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns compared to only three interceptions. As Colorado fans will remember, those numbers came about behind a struggling offensive line that saw Sanders finish the 2023 season injured.
This offseason, Sanders has worked on more than just nailing down mechanics, footwork, ball placement, etc. Instead, Coach Prime revealed that his QB1 also has his focus on his building a strong chemistry with the Buffs’ wide receiving corps.

Oregon coach getting NFL buzz
He’s been working with every single wideout to know where each wideout wants to ball, their preferences and what makes them stand out.
“You can see in seven-on-sevens, after practice, grabbing a guy, pulling them to the side, and he’s telling him what he saw,” Coach Prime said.
Not only is he meshing well with his wideouts, this is something that has extended to more than just his skill players. Sanders has created a bond with his offensive line to the point where the Buffs headman believes his son’s blockers love him as a dear friend. “They want to protect him, want to go for the extra mile,” he said.
Colorado will kick off the 2024 college football season against North Dakota State on Thursday, Aug. 29 before turning around and battling Nebraska on the road in Week 2. Sanders and company will begin their venture back into the Big 12 Conference beginning in Week 4 against Baylor and will also feature matchups against Arizona, Utah, Kansas and Oklahoma State.
