Deion Sanders questions Travis Hunter's rating in EA Sports College Football 2025

The new EA Sports College Football 2025 video game is right around the corner. With that, some player ratings, like that of Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter, have been revealed.

Travis Hunter is a 95 overall player in the new video. That makes him one of the highest-rated players in the game. At the same time, it’s a rating that his head coach, Deion Sanders, doesn’t entirely understand given everything he can do on the field.

“I don’t know nothing about that video game,” Deion Sanders said. “I’m not a video game guy. I love video games but I’m a real game guy. I don’t know. Like, you guys talk about ratings and rankings, I don’t know about that stuff.”

Travis Hunter is actually the sixth-ranked player in the country. He’s also one of seven players to earn a 95 overall ranking in the game. That makes him the highest-ranked wide receiver in the game as well, though Will Johnson of Michigan is a higher-rated cornerback.

Along with Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders is also one of the top 100 rated players that EA released ahead of the game. He’s a 93 overall and is actually tied with Carson Beck in regard to that overall ranking, though EA has Sanders as the 17th overall player while Beck is 18th.

“I’m just trying to figure out how can Shedeur be tied with another person,” Deion Sanders said. “How did that happen? And how can Travis not have the highest score on the game when he’s arguably the best receiver and the best defensive back in college football? So, how can you not be the number one rated guy, period? I don’t understand that either.”

Both Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders are undeniably talented. However, so are the players rated ahead of them. That adds a layer of debate to the game and how players should rank.

“So, I don’t get that stuff and where it comes from, but it’s good because it’s good conversational pieces,” Sanders concluded.

Deion Sanders says Travis Hunter is the best player in college football

Even the best players have room to improve. Deion Sanders knows that and he knows it’s true of Travis Hunter, who he believes is the best player in the country.

“(He can improve) consistency. We’re praying that he stays away from injury that you saw last season,” Sanders said.

“But the kid is, to me, the best football player in the nation. And I think we have two of the top football players in the nation, and I think we’re going to — you’re gonna see a couple more catapult themselves into that early first round. We have those type of players in our locker room.”
