Deion Sanders raves about maturity of Shedeur Sanders amid adversity
The Colorado Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders almost pulled off an improbable comeback Saturday afternoon against the USC. Buffaloes rallied back from a 27-point deficit in the second half, coming up just short, falling by a final score of 48-41.
A large part of Colorado’s comeback attempt directly correlated with the play of starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The Buffaloes star quarterback struggled early on but found his rhythm as the game progressed, nearly leading them to the come-from-behind upset victory over the No. 8 ranked Trojans. After the game, Colorado’s head coach, Deion Sanders, took some time to rave about the maturity of his quarterback and son despite the adversity they faced.
“He’s very mature for his age. He’s very confident for his age, doesn’t flinch, doesn’t get flustered,” said Sanders. “He’s the most psyched quarterback in college football, and you could tell by how he carries himself. He’s just a kid that we all knew, and a multitude of our fans know, that if we would have got that ball last, we were going to go down and score. We knew that; He know that, everybody in here knows that. His teammates knew that.
“And that’s just what he brings to the table. He’s unflappable and very wise and understanding of the ‘whys’ and ‘becauses’ in what he sees out there on the field. He thinks a multitude of things through. But he’s a dynamic athlete and a dynamic young man.”

Shedeur Sanders finished the game with 371 yards through the air, completing 30 of his 45 pass attempts with four touchdowns to just one interception. He also carried the ball 14 times for 50 yards with one touchdown.
In a contest that pitted two of the top quarterbacks in college football against one another, Sanders showed why he was an early-season Heisman Trophy candidate. Although Heisman Trophy quarterback Caleb Williams and USC picked up the victory this Saturday, the Buffaloes and their star quarterback had an impressive bounce-back game while showing the rest of the college football world they are a program to be respected.
Shedeur Sanders and the Buffaloes have another tough test ahead of them next Saturday as they will travel to Arizona to take on the Arizona State Sun Devils. While the Sun Devils sit at 1-4 on the season, they have given all but one of their opponents this season all they could handle, including giving USC a scare early on last Saturday.
