Deion Sanders and Colorado improved to 5-2 on the season with a 34-7 win over Arizona Saturday, surpassing last season’s win total.

The Buffaloes only won four games last year but this looks like a much improved Colorado team. Sanders made sure to let everyone know he wants to get to a bowl game, especially for “Miss Peggy.”

But the goals on and off the field don’t stop there.

“We still ain’t got Peggy straight,” Sanders said postgame. “We gotta get Peggy straight. Now we don’t really just wanna get Peggy to a bowl. Peggy got great taste. She’s sophisticated. She’s a lady, so we want to make sure we get her to a nice bowl, not just any bowl … We want to win.

“We want to win at all costs. But I value winning differently. I don’t want to just win on the go. I want to win off the field. I want to win in the classroom. I want to win in the community. Today, you saw that last week, our kids did a phenomenal job … I mean, I want to win in all facets of life. like with these young men, and that’s  something I think we’re on our way to do.”

At this rate, Colorado could win big as Sanders alluded to. There are no ranked teams remaining on the schedule for the buffaloes.

So are you saying five straight wins (10-2) would do wonders for Colorado? It could. The team only has one Big 12 loss and would be right in the thick of things for a title.

Sanders’ goals measure beyond the field for Colorado and his players, but having a chance to compete for a Big 12 title, if they get a little help from BYU, Iowa State and Kansas State (due to the head to head loss), Colorado could be cooking.

Sanders saw Saturday’s movie before though. Leading 28-7 at halftime, Colorado didn’t want to let this lead slip away; something they would’ve done in 2023.

Whether it’s a good bowl, a fancy bowl, or even the playoff somehow, Sanders wants to make sure Peggy is taken care of!

“We were in a similar situation to this last year and we got our butts kicked in the second half,” Sanders said. “We harped on them that we got to finish, finish, finish.”
