Colorado coach Deion Sanders got into it briefly with a local reporter on Friday, denying him the chance to ask a question in a Media Day press conference over some beef with his CBS Sports affiliation.
The interruption at the press conference occurred when Eric Christensen of CBS News Colorado in Denver attempted to ask a question.
After Christensen introduced himself and stated his media affiliation, Deion Sanders cut him off.
“CBS, I’m not doing nothing with CBS,” the Colorado head coach said. “Next question. Ain’t got nothing to do with you, it’s above that. Ain’t got nothing to do with you. I’ve got love for you, I appreciate and respect you. Ain’t got nothing to do with you. They know what they did.”
Christensen did his best to push back as a reporter, informing Sanders that he was at the press conference on behalf of the Denver news, not any national assignment for CBS.
Sanders cut in again.
“You are who you are. CBS is CBS,” he said. “Ain’t got nothing to do with you, I respect you. That’s why I told you that. I’m looking you in the eye as a man. I respect you, I got love for you. But what they did was foul.”
It’s unclear what exactly Deion Sanders took exception with when it comes to CBS.
Back in July, though, the publication ranked Sanders as the second-worst head coach in the Big 12 going into the 2024 season. Writer David Cobb produced that ranking, writing the following about Sanders:

“Sanders’ first season as an FBS coach started with a bang, but ended with six straight losses. He’s generated buzz and excitement by talking a big game and collecting strong transfer talent. But the foundation has cracks — see the offensive line for one example — as the Buffaloes transition to the Big 12 and face another tough schedule.”
There’s also the possibility that Deion Sanders took offense to a recent viral meme that poked fun at a video released by the Colorado football program.
The original video featured Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders throwing a pass from one angle, then the video snapped to another angle of a receiver catching the pass for a touchdown. The way the video was edited it was unclear if it was all the same play or two plays spliced together.
The Internet went wild with other organizations mocking the “Darts Only” caption of the video and making their own hastily edited together versions. CBS Sports compiled several of those posts and posted them in article form online.
Whatever the case, Christensen was denied his question and Deion Sanders once again found himself in the headlines as a result.
