Deion Sanders reveals son Shilo has fulfilled 'all his financial obligations' amid legal 'bull-junk'

Deion Sanders revealed his son Shilo Sanders fulfilled all of his “financial obligations” amid some legal “bull junk” leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft. The Colorado defensive back was involved in a bankruptcy case related to a high school assault, as reported last year.
Shilo Sanders disclosed just shy of $325,000 worth of assets to his name in a December 2023 bankruptcy case related to an $11.89 million dollar judgement against him stemming from an assault when Sanders was in high school, according to Westword. And this filing raised questions about Sanders’ NIL earnings.
But as Deion Sanders noted, this incident is now behind his son and everyone else. It’s all about preparation for the draft later this month.
“Shilo got several years of film that are impeccable,” Sanders said. “Shilo had one negative game that we could denote. (He has) been a pillar of consistency. Shiloh is an old school player playing up under these new school guidelines. Shilo is a dog. He ran surprisingly, I’m pretty sure he’s surprised a lot of you guys, his 40-time today, and I’m so darn proud of him. He does not take a backseat to his brother. He does not take a backseat to anybody.
“He’s a worker and he’s a go-getter, and he’s a dog. He’s a doer. I love what he represents. I love who he is on and off the field. He’s a great young man. I know some other bull junk came out, but he fulfilled all his financial obligations. These issues appear to have risen due to disruptions in the payment process. This is from his attorney: ‘following the termination of Mr. Sanders online account access.’ So, he’s good. He’s good.”

Latest on Shilo Sanders’ legal situation ahead of NFL Draft
The bankruptcy proceeding itself stems from Sanders losing a judgement in 2022 after allegedly assaulting a security guard as a high schooler in 2015. A suit filed in Dallas District Court in 2016 alleged the security guard, John Darjean, had “sustained severe and permanent injuries including a broken neck, damage to his cervical spine, permanent neurological injuries and irreversible incontinence,” according to a 2024 filing in the bankruptcy proceedings.
These injuries were allegedly caused when Sanders elbowed and continued to hit Darjean during an altercation. Sanders lost the judgement when it went to trial in 2022, and failed to appear. The court awarded Darjean an $11.89 million judgement against Sanders after finding he had committed assault and battery. Darjean alleged this judgement was not been paid.
And as the bankruptcy case continued to be news, Deion Sanders was asked about it by a USA Today reporter last summer. He clamored for there to be a deeper look into what happened.“I want you to do this for me,” Deion Sanders said. “I want you to do your homework and do a whole investigation on that and then write that. I mean the whole complete investigation on what truly happened.”
