Deion Sanders makes strong claim on Travis Hunter, Heisman after first half vs. TCU
Despite entering the game as 20-point favorites, Deion Sanders and Colorado punched TCU in the mouth to lead 17-14 at halftime on the road.
Coach Prime and his guys struck first to take a 7-0 first half lead, then intercepted TCU in the red zone on the ensuing defensive possession. Thanks to some turnovers, the Frogs fought back to tie things at 14-14 but the Buffaloes tacked on a field goal to lead at the half, 17-14.
As the teams trotted off the field, FOX Sports reporter Erin Andrews caught up with Coach Sanders to ask his thoughts on the first thirty minutes of play. His quick review:
“Well, we’re moving the ball at will. We’re doing what we need to do. We need to be a little more effective in the run game. Two turnovers in this game and we’re still up by three.
“We get the ball coming out of halftime. I like our chances. Our guys are motivated, they’re ready, they’re energized and they’re ready to play some football.”
He was then asked about two-way star Travis Hunter, who logged over 60 snaps across each phase of the game in the first half. Sanders’ statement was brief but powerful:
“He is him.”
According to the Colorado coach, some better passes from his son, Shedeur Sanders, could have Hunter as the Heisman front-runner after this week.
“We missed him on two deep balls. He gets those two deep balls, the Heisman is at his crib chillin’ right now.”

Wow, what a quote from Deion Sanders, who then said “God bless” to Erin Andrews and strolled off towards the locker room.
Hunter makes crazy pick
Travis Hunter is arguably the best player for Colorado and he might’ve proven why with an impressive interception in the third quarter.
He prevented a TCU touchdown near the goal line. The Horned Frogs drove about 95 yards before the drive stalled with the turnover.
Watch below to see Hunter’s insane grab.
In addition to the interception, Hunter had eight catches for 53 yards midway through the third quarter and Colorado led 24-21.
With that stat line, Hunter was the first player in the last 20 seasons to record a pick and at least eight catches in a single game, per ESPN Stats and Info.
Sheesh, is there anything Travis Hunter can’t do? He’s looking every bit the part of a possible Heisman winner, as Deion Sanders predicts.
