Deion Sanders and Colorado hit a brick wall in the form of the Oregon Ducks last weekend, losing the Pac-12 opener 42-6 on the road. This week doesn’t get any easier, as Caleb Williams and USC are coming to town for Week 5.

After a humbling loss like the one they suffered against the Ducks, Sanders revealed that there’s no need to approach USC game week any differently. The loss has motivated Colorado plenty.

“You don’t really change the way you attack anything because you’ve got to show a level of consistency toward your kids. You really focus on the things that were detrimental to the defeat,” Sanders said during his weekly coaches show. “Run game, run defense, personnel, just moving the ball period on offense and then we had some blunders on special teams. So we had mishaps in all three phases, so you had to attack all three phases.

“We sustained a couple of injuries that could cost us in the future. But you’ve got to keep these guys built off of that.”

On the injury front, two-way star Travis Hunter has already been ruled out and the Buffs’ leading receiver in Xavier Weaver is questionable after exiting the Oregon loss with an apparent leg or foot injury as he was walked to the locker room by athletic staff missing one cleat. DB Shilo Sanders is questionable as well.

Colorado was held scoreless until the final three minutes of regulation when Shedeur Sanders completed a six-yard pass to Michael Harrison before the PAT was fittingly blocked. Six punts and a fumble later, and Colorado’s defense ultimately gave up 42 unanswered points.

“Although we got our butts kicked, and rightfully so, we’re upset at being 3-1,” Deion Sanders said. “And I like that. We’re upset and we’re 3-1. That means we are not satisfied.”

Of course, a win against USC would be a program-changer for Sanders and company. Williams and USC come into Boulder this weekend boasting the highest-scoring offense in the country, averaging 55 points per game. To best the Trojans is a tall task, but one with seismic ramifications across college football. Colorado would not only be back after a week in the dumps — they’d once again be the hottest topic in college football.

Kickoff between the Buffaloes and Trojans is set for Noon ET live on FOX. USC is a 21.5-point betting favorite, per Vegas Insider, despite playing on the road. The over/under total is set at 73.5
