Colorado wide receiver Omarion Miller earned a ton of confidence from Deion Sanders over the weekend.

Forced into action against USC, Miller caught seven passes for 196 receiving yards and a touchdown, ravaging the Trojans defense throughout the second half. The Buffaloes almost came all the way back, falling by a touchdown to the College Football Playoff contender.

Afterwards, Sanders elaborated on the confidence Miller earned in the process, and how important it’ll be to involve him going forward.

“You’ve got to understand that you can only hold people accountable when you’re doing your job. You can’t go around and hold everybody accountable if you’re not doing your job. So the more that these young men do their jobs, and do it like, the expectation that we have of them, being able to hold other players accountable, but they’re reluctant. There’s only a few guys on this team that consistently, you know what you’re going to get, week-in and week-out, as well as practice. So once that continues — I didn’t think we were going to get that from Omarion,” explained Sanders. “I ain’t seen that yet. No. He hadn’t practiced well. That’s why he hadn’t played. But he was forced into action, and he showed up and showed out.

“We celebrated him after the game. Because of how he stepped up. Now, I’m pretty certain that his confidence is going to soar through the roof. So now, we’ll really call set plays for him, and depend on him a lot more. Because when he can take the pressure off of Xavier [Weaver] and Jimmy [Horn Jr.], and the running game as well, that’s tremendous. I’m proud of him.”

Evidently, Miller changed his future last weekend, as now he’ll be on the field more often moving forward, as fans will be clamoring to see more of him. You can’t blame them, as he was simply electric against USC.

While Colorado has suffered some tough losses after starting the season blazing hot, the Buffaloes have some easier showdowns coming up over the next couple of weeks. There are victories to be had, and Colorado must find a way to lock them down.

With Omarion Miller now a vital part of their offense, and the possible return of Travis Hunter over the next couple of weeks, Colorado can get back to the potency we’ve seen from them on offense. Better days are ahead for the Buffaloes and Deion Sanders, it seems.
