Deion Sanders shares heartfelt moment with cornerback Nahmier Robinson during practice
Deion Sanders shows he cares about his players, including cornerback Nahmier Robinson. Robinson, the son of former NBA star Nate Robinson, is in his second year with the buffaloes.
Despite the transfer portal exodus and acquisitions over the last few cycles under Sanders, Nahmier Robinson has stuck around. He could make more of an impact this season.
Sanders and Robinson shared a nice moment on the practice field where the coach asked his player how he was doing, really focusing on his mental health.
“3-4, how you doing,” Sanders said. “You know what I mean, how you doing? How you doing? If need us let me know. Alright? I’m proud of you boy. Keep balling man.”
Robinson repeatedly said he was good and appreciated the sentiment from Sanders.
Nate Robinson caught wind of the video and responded gratefully to Sanders’ treatment of his son.
“Brings tears to my eyes of joy watching my son and my favorite football player share a moment, thanks Coach prime for helping turn my baby boy into a man/Dawg,” Nate Robinson wrote on Twitter.
As a member of the Class of 2023, Nahmier Robinson was not ranked, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He played his HS football out of Seattle (Wash.) Rainier Beach (Skyline)
Robinson played in one game last season when Colorado played Utah, but did not register any stats. He enters 2024 as a redshirt freshman.

Setting expectations for Colorado in 2024
It remains to be seen if Robinson will make a huge impact on the field at this point. But the season is still four-plus months away.
Sanders, meanwhile, knows there are bigger expectations and more pressure on Colorado in 2024.
“I’m gonna hold out hope until I know for sure that they are improved on both lines of scrimmage,” ESPN’s Greg McElroy said. “Now, Colorado’s offensive line play was as bad as it gets.

“They could not open up consistent rush lanes. They couldn’t keep Shedeur Sanders upright. The run game averaged less than two yards per carry. Part of that is because of sacks and, just so you know, their quarterbacks were sacked 56 times.”
Following the 2023 season, Deion Sanders made it clear that there was going to be an effort to flip the offensive line, which Sanders did through the transfer portal. In the 2024 cycle, six Colorado offensive linemen transferred out of the program. Meanwhile, six offensive linemen were added through the Transfer Portal alone.
“Now, they did infuse quite a bit of talent on both lines of scrimmage,” McElroy said. “During the offseason, Colorado added six offensive linemen, including some highly regarded prospects, like Tyler Johnson and a Class of 2024 five-star prospect in Jordan Seaton. Add in Tyler Brown, and the Buffaloes have the makings of a talented group, but will they be cohesive enough to be able to take the next step?”
