Deion Sanders shares what Colorado recruits feel about current struggles
Colorado is in the midst of a four-game losing streak — which is something that can’t be overlooked as a recruit.
Still, the aura and experience that comes with playing for Deion Sanders is still enough for top recruits to keep the Buffaloes in mind. Despite Colorado’s woes, Coach Prime has a pulse on his recruit’s mindsets despite losing six of their last seven games.
“They’re not thinking about what transpired. They’re thinking about them being the missing piece of the puzzle to help this transpire,” Sanders said on his coaches show on Wednesday. “That’s where they are. The No. 1 thing is that I don’t talk about any other coaches or teams or staff, I don’t believe in that. I’m not going to put you down so I can stand up. I’ve never been that type of player or person in my life.
“… They think that we’re going to be so successful that I’m going to leave so that they understand what we possess and the potential that we put this, but then that’s not true.
Sanders says his family has an anchor down in Boulder at the moment. His sons go to school there, his daughter visits every week and more importantly — his mother lives there too and is enjoying her time in their new surroundings.

“We absolutely love being here,” Sanders continued. “We actually love it. 100 percent.”
Sanders also revealed what he tells recruits when it comes to the Buffs’ terrible stretch run over the last two months — pitching to his prospects that they can be a part of something greater in Boulder.
“I tell them what I told them when they came. I’m here. I’m here,” Sanders said earlier in the week. “I tell them my mother is here, my sister is here, my dog is here, my daughter is here, my three sons are here, my other daughter comes to every home game. We here. I get mail here. Pay taxes here. I’m here. I don’t hear that. Maybe our recruiting staff hears it, but I don’t hear it. I’m too honest with parents and I am going to tell them the truth.”
For now, Colorado still has a shot at earning a postseason bid. Sitting at 4-6 on the season, matchups against Washington State and No. 22 Utah are the only teams that stand in the way of the Buffaloes meeting the NCAA’s minimum bowl eligibility requirements.
