Deion Sanders shares what comes next for Colorado after spring game
Deion Sanders’ coming out party at Colorado officially took place this weekend when over 47,000 people showed up to watch the Buffalo’s spring game. With that step now behind the program, what’s next for Coach Prime out in Boulder?
Well, in his words, expect a lot of unashamed roster turnover. During his press conference this weekend, Sanders said the spring game was the start of his chapter at the school. Now, with that over and done with, he says it’s time to quickly ‘move on’ from some players and ‘reload’ with talent that best represents what he is trying to build on their roster.
“Well, this is the genesis of the new era, the new thing. This was the genesis, this was the beginning of everything and the direction that we go right now,” Sanders said. “You all know that we’re gonna move on from some of the team members. We’re gonna reload and get some kids that we really identify with. This process is gonna be quick, it’s gonna be fast. But we are gonna get it done…We are gonna roll.”
While some coaches see the transfer portal as a headache, though, Sanders can’t wait to get on the recruiting trail to add new members to his team. He says it excites him as much as it does because he has the unique experience of playing every role involved in a recruitment.

“I love it. Love every darn minute of it,” said Sanders. “I sat in all three seats. I was a kid that was recruited. And I was the parent sitting by the kid when my sons were being recruited. Now I’m the coach recruiting the kid, talking to the parent, and talking the God’s honest truth. No game whatsoever, straight up.”
Colorado has already gone through several transactions in the portal. They’ve been one of the most active programs within it as they’ve seen 28 additions and 28 subtractions this offseason. Those won’t be the last of the Buffalo’s dealings either.
Sanders is on a war path to make things happen at Colorado his way. That leads to a lot of exciting arrivals but, based on these comments, will also likely means more than a few departures. Still, this is what his new program hired him to do, which is why he’s ready to make things happen by any means necessary, especially on the recruiting front.
