3-star OT Drew Perez decommits from Colorado
Southlake (Texas) Southlake Carroll three-star offensive tackle Drew Perez decommitted from Colorado on Wednesday. He was previously pledged to the Buffaloes since June 23.
Perez is the No. 1,458 overall prospect and No. 92 offensive tackle in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 239 player in Texas.
“First and foremost, I’d like to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to further my education and continue playing the sport I love,” Perez wrote in a statement published to social media. “I would like to thank my family, friends(,) teammates and coaches who have been supportive throughout this entire process. A big thank you to the University of Colorado for reoffering me the opportunity to play for Coach Prime and his staff. Considering the recent changes, I have decided to decommit from the University of Colorado. #buffnation.”
The 6-foot-8, 320-pound recruit currently holds offers from four schools. They are Colorado, Fordham, San Diego State and Tulane.
Since Deion Sanders became the head coach at Colorado, multiple players have decommitted from the Buffaloes. They include Grand Prairie (Texas) South Grand Prairie three-star running back AJ Newberry, Pleasanton (Calif.) Amador Valley three-star EDGE Brady Nassar and Houston (Texas) Yates three-star EDGE Kam Bizor.

Right now, Colorado’s class, which ranks No. 61 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 9 in the Pac-12, contains 12 commitments. The Buffaloes’ group is led by Derby (Kan.) four-star running back Dylan Edwards, the No. 167 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.
Edwards is one of the players to choose Colorado following Sanders’ hire. Others include Apopka (Fla.) Wekiva three-star wide receiver Asaad Waseem and Columbus (Ohio) KIPP Columbus three-star offensive tackle Jordan Hall.
Perez has an On3 NIL Valuation of $8.5K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
