Former Florida State wide receiver Hykeem Williams has committed to Colorado via the NCAA Transfer Portal, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He spent two seasons at FSU.

In the 2024 campaign, Williams made nine appearances and eight starts. He tallied 16 receptions for 187 yards and a touchdown. In his freshman season in 2023, Williams played in eight games, recording five catches for 80 yards.

Hykeem Williams played high school football at Stranahan (FL), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 34 overall player and No. 4 wide receiver in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He is the 22nd player Colorado has added via the transfer portal this offseason. In turn, the Buffaloes have lost 34 players to the portal. They are currently ranked No. 25 in On3’s 2025 Team Transfer Portal Rankings.

Colorado will have several options at quarterback to deliver darts to Williams in the 2025 campaign. The team reeled in Liberty transfer QB Kaidon Salter this offseason through the portal. Additionally, Colorado is bringing in five-star freshman Julian Lewis.

In the 2023 season, Salter erupted for 2,876 passing yards and 32 touchdowns while only throwing six interceptions. Salter’s standout statistics translated to the win column. Liberty went 12-0 in the regular season and won its conference championship.

Salter will look to find similar success at Colorado. Alas, with Lewis also on the roster, the starting spot won’t be handed to Salter. Earlier this month, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders made it clear that Colorado won’t be naming its QB1 until this fall.

“Ain’t nobody care about that, because I may change my mind tomorrow,” Sanders said. “So what benefits us to name a guy the? What does that do for us as a team? Nothing.

“… Matter of fact, I don’t even know who’s going to be that guy right now, anyway, so I don’t have the propensity to do it, because I don’t know. They gotta perform with consistency.”

Colorado is coming off a 9-4 season. The Buffaloes were one win away from reaching the Big 12 Championship. Sanders will aim to take Colorado to new heights in his third season at the helm.
