Four-Star Kam Mikell commits to Colorado
Four-star cornerback Kam Mikell of Statesboro (GA) High announced his commitment to Colorado Thursday afternoon.
The 6-foot-1, 187 pounder chose the Buffaloes over Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas A&M.
“The first time I was there it was beautiful. Waking up to the snow and I mean a chance for Deion Sanders to be your coach. Why not him? The marketing he has as a coach is crazy.”
His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a role in his decision as well.
“Our relationship is great,” Mikell said. “I talk to everyone on the staff and it all seems like family. I am closer with Nick Williams because he was my main recruiter in the process. I would start out playing receiver and slowly in with defense.”
The Peach State cornerback joins coach Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes’ 2024 class. He is accompanied by four-star athlete Aaron Butler, four-star defensive lineman Brandon Davis-Swain, and others.

Scouting Summary
On3’s Scouting and Rankings Team writes about him as a college recruit:
“Top athlete with a multi-faceted skill set who has the physical upside to develop into one of the top cornerback prospects in the 2024 cycle. Measured in at over 6-foot, 180 pounds prior to his senior season. A strong sprinter with some of the better track times among top 2024 cornerbacks. Finished third in the 100 meters at the state track finals as a sophomore with a personal best 10.50 mark. Backs up that speed in the camp setting and on the field. Primarily plays quarterback and corner for Statesboro High. Dangerous with the ball in his hands. Has the ability to rip off long gains with his home run speed. Flashes the long speed to stay attached on downfield routes as a cornerback.”
“Also shows outstanding range as a run defender and in downfield pursuit. Owns a very strong multi-sport profile in addition to track and football as he is also a very good high school basketball player, showcasing coordination and movement skills. Ball skills register as satisfactory as a cornerback prospect, but can continue improving on that front. Has considerable developmental upside due to his athleticism, but will need to hone technical aspects of his game once he becomes a full-time defensive back.”
He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $108K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
