The Colorado Buffaloes are expecting to have a new look on offense in 2024. That’s a change that wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. has already seen.

Horn compared the offense this season more to something that would be seen in the NFL, rather than how the offense started out in 2023.

“The offense, it’s more like a different tempo type of offense,” Jimmy Horn Jr said. We go fast, slow, whatever. Really, it’s just more like an NFL, pro-style type of offense, you know? Just something to get used to.”

“I’ve been a part of different offenses. So, me being a part of different offenses, it helped me learn how to adjust to something different.”

In 2023, Colorado came into the season with Sean Lewis running the offense. However, by the midway point in the season, there was tension there and Lewis was replaced by Pat Shurmur in the middle of the year. Now, Shurmur is back for his first full season with the new look offense.

At least for Horn, learning a new offense won’t be too much of a challenge given that this is his third straight season with a new offensive coordinator after transferring to Colorado from USF. Still, Colorado fans won’t know if it’s worked until the season gets going.

Whatever the case, this is an offense that quarterback Shedeur Sanders believes is going to be friendly to him.

“I feel like the offense is very quarterback friendly. I feel like it’s how I see the game, how I feel out there. If it’s a concept that I don’t like, that I want to adjust, then we can talk about it, or he could say, ‘Okay, I like it, this is the reason why.’ So it’s always a reason why, and I feel like I told him, even this morning, we got up here at like 6:30 a.m. and we just had a meeting, just talking about, I told him my biggest goal this year is not to keep us in like, bad plays,” Sanders said.

“So it’s like, to understand what each and every play doesn’t work right for, and get us in the right play. So it’s really just trying to take my game, and make the team, just take it to the next level, to where we’re always just going to be one step ahead.”

Colorado finished 2023 ranked 60th in scoring offense with 28.2 points per game. The Buffaloes were also 82nd in total offense, with 363.6 yards per game.
