Colorado has become an even bigger story than anyone outside of their locker room may have even expected with their 2-0 start to the season. For FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt, he has reached the point of being stunned when it comes to some of the numbers that exhibit the overall interest in the Buffaloes.

Klatt spoke about Coach Prime and Colorado again on his show on Monday. He says it’s clear that Sanders and company have eclipsed everything regarding their season before it started considering just how many people are following their storyline now.

“You think about where this program is? Why were there close to 10 million people watching that game on Saturday? By the way, more people watched the Colorado vs. Nebraska game than ‘Bama vs. Texas,” said Klatt. “You think people aren’t interested in Deion Sanders, Colorado, and this story? This story is transcending all of sports.”

“It’s staggering how interested people are in watching what’s going on. It’s because the level of ineptitude that Colorado was displaying a year ago and where they’re at now,” said Klatt. “They’re 2-0, a bonafide Top-20 team, just handled Nebraska when not even playing well, 36-14, and they are in the mix for the best recruits in the country. This is wild!”

At this point last year, Colorado was 0-2 with an average margin of loss of 28 points. They would fire Karl Dorrell just over two weeks later and win their only game of the year two weeks after that.

That’s the gutter that Sanders has pulled them out of in his short time in Boulder. That level of turnaround is why Klatt, like many others, are nothing short of astonished at what Prime Time has generated at Colorado so far.

“Here we are, it’s 2023. Deion Sanders is the head coach of the University of Colorado. They’re 2-0, they’re No. 18 in the country, and they’ve got the best players in the country walking in, calling them to take visits to Folsom Field and to visit Boulder, Colorado,” said Klatt. “A year ago today, basically this week? They’re coming off a 31-point loss to Air Force! A team in their own state! And, now, you’re getting the No. 1 player in the country in 2025 to come visit your school, you’re 2-0.”

“That’s why 10 million people are watching because we’ve never seen this,” Klatt said. “We’ve never seen anything like this. And it’s not a Cinderella because, like I said, they played bad and won big. I’m losing the ability to try to contextualize this.”
