Colorado State vs. Colorado already had some added juice to it with College GameDay making the trip to Boulder this weekend. It then went up another notch following some comments leading into the game from Rams’ head coach Jay Norvell.

Still, to Joel Klatt, all this weekend’s matchup is going to be is yet another celebration for Deion Sanders and company. He said as much on his show on Thursday as he feels as though the spread for this contest isn’t big enough based on the showing he expects from the Buffaloes.

“I expect a big night offensively from these Buffs. They’re going to get after it, high-tempo. The spread is -22.5? Colorado is winning by more than 22.5.”

Klatt’s point is only further underlined by the feeling that Colorado has after defeating the Cornhuskers last weekend. They won by 22 but didn’t feel as though they played well enough to the point where they’re wanting to respond with a statement in the in-state matchup.

“I mean they are not pleased with the way they played against Nebraska. Trust me when I tell you that,” said Klatt. “This was not a very good performance and they won going away. They felt like they should have beat Nebraska, after that game, 45-7.”

Colorado State currently sits at 0-1 following a week one loss to another Pac-12 program, Washington State, by a score of 50-24. It was all Cougars as they answered each one of CSU’s fourth-quarter touchdowns with trips to the endzone of their own and QB Cameron Ward put up nearly 500 yards of offense to go with four scores overall.

In Klatt’s eyes, that’s the kind of outcome that Coach Prime and Colorado could dish out on Saturday, if not a worse one, when they step onto Folsom Field come 10 p.m. EST on ESPN.

“Guess what? Watch out, Colorado State,” Klatt stated. “-22.5 is not a big enough number. I like the Buffs, big, in Boulder.”

Colorado vs. Colorado State point spread: Picking Buffaloes vs. Rams

The college football world will turn its attention to Boulder this week as Deion Sanders and his new-look Colorado team take on in-state rival Colorado State. The Buffaloes have been the talk of college football this year after two impressive wins to start the season and they’re a heavy favorite against CSU in week three.

Colorado is a 20-plus point favorite over Colorado State and On3’s Andy Staples and ‘Never Punt, Never Parlay’s’ Parker Fleming examined that number on Wednesday night.

While Staples picked Colorado to cover, he’s also confident in the over.

“There’s a look-ahead factor here because, obviously, Colorado has to play at Oregon next week,” Staples said. “But we talk about a spread with an overmatched team — and I think Colorado State feels overmatched in this one. We don’t know what Deion’s gonna do with a lead. He kept pouring it on against Nebraska. Like, does he put subs in to get them some experience? I would assume he will. But I don’t know what he’s gonna do. He may be trying to make a point with everybody there. So this one’s tricky.”

“But I will take them to cover and I do think this game’s going over, for sure. Because they’re pick-your-poison on offense and I think they probably will try to spread the ball around quite a bit,” said Staples. “This will be one where I think we’ll all watch GameDay to see the scene and all that and the interviews. I don’t know how much of a game we’re gonna end up watching.”
