Joel Klatt tabs Deion Sanders a 'major success' after Colorado's spring game
Colorado‘s spring game offered just a taste of what Deion Sanders will bring to Boulder this season. A packed crowd, a raucous environment and most importantly — a winning football mindset.
There was snow on the ground, but that didn’t stop ESPN from sending Chris Fowler, a Colorado alum, as well as Robert Griffin III and Quint Kessenich in front of 47,277 fans in freezing temperatures to cover the game. Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt was so blown away that he kept trying to get his wife and children to understand the magnitude of what they were watching. He’s also a bit jealous that he wasn’t there covering the game.
“It was electric. Even I tweeted out when you look at what this has been so far, it has been a major success,” Klatt said on Monday. “The spring game was incredible to watch, wish I could have been there … I’m so excited for what Coach Prime is doing there in Boulder. And by the way, from what I saw on the field, I think they’re going to win 6+ games this season.”

Six wins would earn the Buffaloes a spot in the postseason for the first time since 2016 and only the second time in 15 years. With a massive influx of transfer portal talent entering the program on what seems to be a daily basis, Sanders has built the most hype around Colorado in a few months than it has ever had. Colorado is on a national stage for the first time in a long time, and Coach Prime is looking for the best of the best to occupy his roster.

Still, Sanders was worried that little things like the weather could stop some recruits from ultimately signing with the Buffs. Snow plows were used to remove several inches of snow that built up in Boulder, Colorado on Friday and Saturday and Sanders wasn’t shy about sharing his worries about recruiting.
After seeing the crowd of 45,000+ and experiencing the atmosphere of what a Colorado home game would be like for the first time, those recruiting worries went away after coming out of the tunnel.
“I was amazed. I didn’t expect it to be like that, but the energy from just walking out of the locker room with the team — it was unbelievable. It was one of those moments that you will never forget,” Sanders said postgame. “It was one of those moments where it was something special. You had to be there. … when we were running out there it was unbelievable. Even with the weather, it was unbelievable.”
