Ohio DL transfer Rayyan Buell commits to Colorado
Ohio defensive line transfer Rayyan Buell has committed to Colorado, On3’s Hayes Fawcett has learned. His commitment to the Buffaloes comes after Buell visited Colorado on April 19.
Buell played just two years at Ohio, posting 12.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and 30 total tackles in 13 games played. Prior to suiting up for the Bobcats, he had been a star at Northwest Mississippi Community College, playing there as a freshman in 2020 and a sophomore in 2021.
This past season, Buell was named to the Third-Team All-MAC and was recognized as “Distinguished Academic All-MACCC and first-team NJCAA All-Academic selection” while at the junior college level.
He was a graduate student at Ohio last season, which means Buell will use his final season of eligibility to play for Deion Sanders and Colorado. In total, he played two seasons at the junior college level and two in the MAC with the Ohio Bobcats.
Before his time at Ohio, Buell started six games for Northwest Mississippi Community College where he compiled 22 total tackles, 6.5 tackles-for-loss, two hurries and 1.5 sacks. He logged five tackles per game in his first three starts, and the most impressive outing of his career saw him notch 2.5 sacks for in an overtime victory at Northeast on October 22, 2020.

As previously mentioned, he excels in the classroom and off the field, as he was named to the college’s President’s List for the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters.
Buell is just the latest in the drove of transfers coming in and out of Boulder this offseason. Over 25 players, such as Buell, have committed to play for Coach Prime while over 30 have transferred out. Most of those were former three-star recruits in high school, while they’ve added several former four-star prospects to go along with several highly-touted recruits heading to Boulder in their 2024 recruiting class.
That class is highlighted by Five Star Plus+ offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, who is the consensus top OT in the 2024 class. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services, Seaton is the No. 18 player in the country.
